Mr. Rosen began his culinary career in 1977 working as a dishwasher for The Copper Skillet restaurant in Paramus, New Jersey. After a successful career in finance and in an effort to recharge his batteries, he attended Le Cordon Bleu in London in 2000. That was followed by additional years in the finance world.
In 2012, Mr. Rosen finally decided to re-enter the restaurant industry –spurred on by his children and his love of food and wine.
Michael Rosen is the Owner and Managing Partner of Juniper and Ivy Restaurant, San Diego’s highest profile restaurant. J&I offers refined American Food with Left Coast Edge. Juniper and Ivy was voted San Diego’s best fancy restaurant for four of the past five years and is a Michelin Bib Gourmand recipient.
Mr. Rosen is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Crack Shack Restaurant Group, a multi-location fine casual restaurant dedicated to elevating the chicken and egg back to the high perch they rightfully belong on. The Crack Shack offers the highest quality bone-in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, salads and other cluck along with a full bar program featuring craft cocktails, craft beer, wine and champagne. The Crack Shack currently has locations in the Little Italy section of San Diego, Encinitas, Costa Mesa, Century City, Pasadena and Las Vegas.
Mr. Rosen currently resides in La Jolla with his wife Marilyn and youngest son Max, and has two of his three older children living nearby in San Diego. Mr. Rosen love food, wine, (he has Level 1 Sommelier from The Court of Master Sommeliers) cycling, golf and travel.
